IV therapy in a demanding stretch: what it can and can't do

IV therapy in a demanding stretch

An earlier version of this article said IV therapy could prevent burnout. It can’t, and we’ve rewritten it to say so plainly.

What burnout actually is

Burnout comes from months of more demand than rest: long hours, little sleep, no recovery time. What changes it is less work, more sleep and more support. A drip doesn’t touch any of those, and no IV prevents or treats burnout.

What an IV actually is

Every Instadrip drip is a full liter of IV fluids, given by a licensed nurse, usually with vitamins mixed in. Energy Boost, for example, is B12 and B-complex in a full liter of saline. Every ingredient is listed on its page, and there’s nothing in the bag beyond what’s listed.

Some people book one during a long, demanding stretch at work, when they’ve been running on coffee and haven’t kept up with water. A nurse comes to your home or office, and the session takes about 45 minutes.

When exhaustion needs more than a drip

Talk to your doctor if you’ve been exhausted for weeks no matter how much you sleep, or if you dread every day, can’t concentrate, or feel hopeless. Those can be signs of something a doctor or therapist should look at, and they deserve a real answer.

If you’re in crisis, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

If you book with us
